obsessed with union jack
i'm obsessed with everything british these days, especially the union jack. from jonathan adler's woven rugs and dog beds, to jimmie martin's inventive furniture, and karen hilton's lovely work featured on etsy (my new vintage search engine for things i don't need but have to have). as you search the internet for british goods, look for the wonderful little 'royal warrant' logos meaning the queen has literally put her stamp of approval on it!

edgy supercute
as always, i love black and white since this ultimate in visual contrast creates such a classic edginess, which can keep a item from trending-out too quickly. leica cameras, the love grenade coin bank, my new web site for kimberly wilson, the candle version of bond no.9 parfum, and a wink-filled trigger mug...oh and my logo for hans kline (!!!) all rock the black and white.

creative spark
every morning after feeding the dogs and making my coffee, i start my workday by lighting a candle in my studio. i like the spark of the flame and the soft smell that fills the room as a ritual to get my creative mind rolling. aquiesse, archipelago, and slatkin make the majority of the ones i use. if you can't have a flame or scent in your workspace, try "candle no.1" as a decorative art/utility object.

muses in manhattan
spotted in manhattan : black fleece by brooks brothers, tom ford flagship store, mr. brainwash artwork, kylie minogue concert, new eyewear (finally!) at see, marc by marc jacobs (why would you buy jeans anywhere else?), and lots of goodies spotted at various ralph lauren shops all over town.

lovin' the "camden" special edition mini cooper
i love this special anniversary version mini cooper "camden" - done inside and out in hues of black and white (and silver, technically). i thought i was done with my mini cooper fetish after selling mine...but i do miss that low center of gravity driving experience...especially on these crisp fall days. i hope they do a convertible version...i've always wanted a weekend car to replace my highschool fiat spider convertible (except without the constant breaking down).

panning for gold
my office needs a little touch of light...it is a dark but warm space, with a farmhouse table and a few black gloss accents, like my kartell bourgie lamps...so i thought a spark of gold would be a nice to go next to my reading chair and ottoman. thoughts?

playing with fire
as you can see, i have finally started the cobbling of my own shoes. this isn't the final draft of the new site, but it gives a taste of what is coming down the line.
it is always tough to take time for my own work since my clients always come first...but my site needed rebirth through fire. stay tuned for more updates to come.

biava quartet 2.0
biava quartet is a fantastic young foursome performing gorgeous music...check out their online presence at biavaquartet.com. the site has turned out to be a powerful marketing tool which showcases audio samples and the performance schedule. we built a back-end component for the artists to be able to update their latest news & schedules from wherever they are traveling the world.
the update was due to a new member joining, so they needed the imagery to be updated to celebrate gwen, the new cellist. we kept the same look and feel, working with the new photography in photoshop to make it match the existing design of the site.
how can i improve your site today? :)

cool site for textandshout.com
check them out here. we did some slightly edgier stuff, but decided to keep it a little safe, since it is a biz-2-biz site. my favorite alternate version is below:

great ad campaign design
a chilean ad agency came up with these ads. the weird thing is, i can't find anything about a dog food company called nutribalance...i wonder if it was going to be launched but they ran into trademark issues with the name. regardless, i think these are so much fun and tell great stories for a product that is usually sold in traditional "wholesome" ways.

how cute is this little bitch in a skirt?!
i, of course, mean marc, not the runway model. she's sporting her cottontail headtoppers in black...that way they won't be trendy and she won't regret the purchase next season.
trust me.

"bunny ears, that's what we need to finish this look"
louis vuitton has posted a backstage video video of the infamous bunny ears photoshoot from LV's current campaign featuring madonna. listen for the quote from marc jacobs discussing the concept behind the bunny ears for the fall looks. that quote totally reminds me of little edie's "revolutionary costume for today" line. i do agree that it is reminiscent of "early M"...think borderline video with the rags in the hair...which i have always been fascinated that NO ONE has ever tried to bring that back via the runway.
i can actually get on board with the bunny ears...i think they are growing on a lot of early critics (myself included..."wtf is on her head - is that a fucking scrunchie?", i think was my quote)... what i don't love is the photoshop effects on the photos...it seems unnecessary and distracting to such a wild outfit. i think i would have loved seeing the ads in b&w with just the ears or outfit in color, if they wanted to do some digital effects.
anyway, i hope i won't buy a pair of the bunny ears. and when i do buy a pair, i hope i don't leave the house...without them.
oh god. someone please either stop me or buy your own pair so i won't be the only one at the grocery store at midnight rocking the rabbits.

i like a little irony on the table
i've seen a lot of the chinette-done-in-porcelain thing recently, but i think this is the most interesting spin on the disposable-chic tableware. i like it because it takes an iconic shape and does something new. by lifting it literally to a loftier position on the table, the design elevates the status of the plastic cup to become a glass wine goblet. buy at areaware.

finally, something to sit next to the donatella barbie
apparently steiff and karl lagerfeld came out with the most ferocious bear in modern history. you better be ready to pony up about $1000 for it - nieman marcus has it on sale right now from the original price of $1500...get real. but seriously? i'll probably buy it at some point to stand on my embarrassing-things-a-grown-man-shouldn't-own shelf.
ps- i would totally work the outfit that little bear has on.
