worst rebranding of the year award

wow...archie comics really messed this up. what a shame to mess with such iconic illustrations. that's quite a nose job on ol' veronica, by the way. it cracks me up that they "updated" the 'y' in the logo too (i'd love to hear the corporate reasoning behind that insignificant change)....

the dining room is now "rare gray" so of course the living room has to be upgraded now too...so i swung by the duron paint store today to pick up a complimentary color and i came accross the most unappealing wall paint name EVER (especially if you have seen dateline anytime recently)...see below what dirty shade of gray "chatroom" is...

miss beginnings chang...has a glass eye
saturday night live started out weakly this season, but it is in full swing now. i watched parts of this sketch on tivo 3 times in a row last night. hysterical... maya: "a tweaked out queen poked my eye out with a glow stick by vogueing too big"...also, amy poehler's songs could totally be real club songs (remember "don't google your man"?)....and eva whatshername had a hysterical version of this sketch too with "sunday, ate a bad fish sandwich, but sunday night, I was at the club"... gotta find that on youtube too...

dose of humility
kimberly somehow convinced me to take a hip hop class today, which turned out to be a dance class, not a yoga class to hip hop music as i had imagined. no matter, i was up for the challenge even though my white boy outfit of jogging shorts and a 10k race tshirt was not very hip hoppity, as kimberly gleefuly pointed out (she of course had silver pumas on and was ready to get down). again, no matter. i was ready to channel justin timberlake, or at least a solid gold dancer.

the class was a challenging mix of fun, sweat and disaster. i'm hooked and i think i have to do it again. we were honkey-funk personified and at least the class was small, so other than the very patient teacher, bridgette, not many witnesses exist. try it at joy of motion in dupont. if you go to their site, try not to be horrified by that picture on the home page...it almost sent me running as well.

mitch albom's new book, for one more day is the book james frey's million little pieces failed to be. albom tells a tale of dangerous living without having to stoop to carnival tactics (and apparently lies), like frey did. if you haven't read any of albom's books, start with the five people you meet in heaven...you can skip tuesdays with morrie in my op.
