frank gehry has designed a line of jewelry for tiffany...hmmm, disappointment seems like the initial reaction. it all looks like something that you've seen before...i'll wait till it hits the stores for a final judgement. you can preview it here.

i guess spring has sprung - i'm finally reading again. i took a break here at the end of winter...i don't know, for some reason i couldn't stay focused... but i found a book at borders to read on the plane and i finished it by monday afternoon. prep, by curtis sittenfeld, is a great book. if you went to a private school you'll love it for all the pain and pleasures you get to relieve.

i think i forgot to write about this - i loved v is for vendetta. the ending lost a little strength, but the art direction was fantastic and story moved along nicely. click on the link to visit the movie's site and you can view the hand drawn storyboards - very interesting.

so i'm driving my big ol' american rental car toward key biscayne and as i'm stopping at a red light, i look to my left...MARIA SHARAPOVA SITTING IN A JAG LISTENING TO HER IPOD. i almost wrecked the car trying to get my camera out...but alas i didn't get the shot until her practice session (above). it was the strangest thing - she's huge and tiny at the same time...just a kid sitting in her parents car bopping her head to whatever a kid listens to today...
anyway, dad and i completed our annual trip to a tennis tournament and we picked a good one this year. the nasdaq-100 open in miami. we saw hingis, sharapova, kiefer, federer, roddick, henman (beating hewitt- awesome), demenieva, and more...oh and most importantly - another fantastic doubles match with navratilova. may she never retire.

i caught 10 minutes of desperate housewives on tivo last night until i needed to DELETE NOW. i hadn't seen the show in awhile but when did it become so tedious? what a shame - it's an awful show now.

i know it was basically the same show as his/her previous ones, but he/she cracks me up. dame edna at the national theater was hysterical picking on people in the front rows (in reaction to a lady's shoe choice, "so, how long did the doctor tell you you had to wear those?").
i'm a sucker for a guy in a purple wig who insults people.
best one liner - "you know you were all disappointed that the guy dick cheney shot pulled through"

now this post is late, overdue, and tardy. here's a late congrats for the spectacular production of 'nevermore', the edgar allen poe based musical. i don't remember the music, but i was struck by the excellent staging and art direction. thanks/congrats to sara j and the crew at signature theatre.
my only request is an intermission...i need my candy treats mid show...

cate and i went to the national gallery's dada exhibit this weekend. dada, an art (or anti-art) movement reacting to the horrors of war and futility of words to justify such actions, created some of the most influential work that you see around you today in the graphic arts. make time for it right away - it's fascinating. art made from "readymade" everyday objects and using the emerging printing technologies while flying in the face of existing artistic truths - just wonderful and powerful stuff. just sign it and put it on the wall - instant art! i love it! who knew i was a dadist?"In principle I am against manifestos,
as I am also against principles."
- Tristan Tzara, 1919
also, congrats to yee-haw industries for making some of the best exhibition posters i have ever seen (they are individually letterpressed by hand.)
