first of all, the aviator=slow torture. i think i'm still at that movie theater waiting for it to end.
secondly, house of flying daggers apparently was filmed on someone's camera phone. blurry and boring.

i picked up a copy of daniel harris's cute, quaint, hungry and romantic while visiting the quaint bath bookworks in berkely springs, wva. it's a bible for worshippers of low-brow aesthetics. recommended.
also, there's a fantastic book out called hip: the history. it covers the paths a trend can follow from underground to nationwide craze. very cool book...and beautiful cover graphics.
michael chrichton's state of fear is a disappointment. the suspenseful moments are fun, but scarce...overall just too many characters and too heavy handed.

wow, am i behind in blogging...ok, first of all the picture above is from my latest obsession, grey gardens, a gorgeous documentary of a mother and daugher who have dropped out of high society east hampton life, but retain the wonderful affectations without skipping a beat. a must see if you are into camp, character studies, lockjaw accents, or "revolutionary costumes". stunning.
