rob and i went to baltimore last night to see chris rock (big daddy kane opened up with old school beats...nushooz, pyt, and more). his commentaries on race, the economy, america, and the supposed sanctity of marriage ("when we have shows like who wants to marry a midget") are brilliant.

we went to the kennedy center last night for the mark twain prize honoring lily tomlin. the highlights of the night were miss piggy (who opened the show - see above), dave chapelle, darrel hammond, jane fonda, catherine o'hara, and of course, dolly parton. i hadn't seen a lot of the hysterical footage before and i was amazed how the comedy of her work still holds up in today's world.

i've been a bad blogger recently...here's an update of recent events:
we went to nyc the other weekend and stayed at this dog-friendly (disco had a blast), terrific hotel. we went to see eddie izzard, but we had our fill at intermission and headed over to carnegie deli. we saw chicago (which was great)...but the highlight was getting a shard of glass in my eye (totally random) and ending up spending saturday morning at manhattan's eye emergency room. i wanted to trade war stories ("hey, what's in your eye?") but my fellow waiting room patients weren't in the mood...

last night, i joined michael and sarah at the 9:30 club to catch this scottish band for a great show.

wow, catherine and i endured this tedious film....all i can say is whatever pain the characters were in on screen, the audience feels double. stay away.
