here's a funny site of modern slang (ie- "ebay" - A large hole in the internet, lined with collector plates and Star Wars figurines, into which large amounts of money has fallen.)

last week, catherine and i went to see this documentary about spelling bees. although it sounds painfully dry, it ended up being incredibly suspenseful filmmaking.

on my way to see this fun french flick at the newly restored avalon theatre (best popcorn in town, by the way), i stopped at at politics & prose (a dog friendly bookstore) and picked up a few happy surprises.

while looking for more dan brown books, i came across the latest books by nick bantock- the writer of the griffin & sabine trilogy. i figured this voyeuristic series was completed, but in the last few years, two more books, the gryphon and alexandria had been released, with a final title, the morning star, due in september. if you have never read these books, composed of hand painted postcards and hand written lettters you must pull from the envelopes to read, please at least pick up the original book - the excitement of reading someone else's correspondence is only matched by the intricate and alluring artwork. this stuff is magical, at the least.
