well audiogalaxy is dead, so we mourn again. the riaa is like an old lady that lives in the scary old house down the block - shaking a cane at people riding their bikes too fast. it would be great if the riaa and record companies would actually give consumers what they want access to: singles, unreleased mixes, and other shelved material deemed too uncommercial. by setting up a legal system they could make money for the artists and give consumers the music they want (this would also save so much money in terms of printing, burning, and distribution - which are the common reasons record companies attribute to raising prices). shutting down trading services will only spark new, cleverer ways to retaliate against a system that music buyers feel has abused them as consumers. it's time for record companies to join forces with these services, progressing with the technology and the times, instead of digging their antiquated heels into the ground (and save all those legal fees which get passed on to us).

wish me a happy one, today's my 29th birthday!
addendum:i spent my birthday with my friend david walking around on smithsonian mall (wishing we had remembered to bring a frisbee) and cheered for the riders of the aidsride who had just arrived. we poked our head into the hirshorn again and walked up and down the mall, eating popcorn and watching the people, places, and things.
rob and i went to a new restaurant for dinner, bistro bis in the hotel george. what a great guy and what a great meal.

i forgot to write in earlier about this... i got my cinema display recently and it was worth every penny. it's beautiful.
also, if you're looking for a fast and cheap compact computer and want some excellent industrial design on your desk, the emac is now available to consumers.
