for those lucky people out there with an ipod, check out the groovejacket. it's a great example of how apple's brilliant industrial design leadership leads to peripheral products that reflect the same high quality. if all companies with consumer products applied the same ideals (those of beautiful design being just as important as functionality) to their products, what a wonderful world this would be. oh yeah, and it protects the ipod from scratches and bumps too.

also, there's a hidden game on your ipod! here's how to access the hidden breakout game:

* Go to the iPod's "About" screen. (in version 1.0.4 and earlier)
* Go to the iPod's "Legal" screen. (in version 1.1)
* Hold down the select button for about five seconds.
* The game will appear and start immediately.
* Use the scroll wheel to control the paddle.

thanks to ipodlounge.com for the hint.

i finally got to see amelie last night and if it is still playing anywhere near you, go see it! you can escape to paris for 2 hours and get lost in this dreamlike story. also, for thrills check out panic room. it was shot on a set that deconstructs a manhattan brownstone and lets you glide through it like slices of a dollhouse.

if you get a chance this spring, go to the Hirshorn, the Smithsonian's contemporary art collection. there is an incredible and unexpected exhibition of H.C. Westermann's artwork, check out this link to learn more. i don't think i've ever visited a gallery and laughed at the humorous works, while still having so much respect for the craftsmanship, artistry, and creativity. highly recommended.
